The 14th edition of the E-Discovery Symposium will be held on April 2nd, 2024 and is organized by the Digital Forensics & E-Discovery Chair of the Leiden University of Applied Sciences. This year's theme is the practical application of language models in digital forensics and E-Discovery.

The symposium will take place at the campus of University of Applied Sciences in Leiden.

The program will start with a registration, lunch and information market, followed by an opening by the moderator Johan ten Houten, who is a teacher of Digital Forensics at Leiden University of Applied Sciences.

The event will have six talks:

  • ‘The R in RAG: Large Language Models for the next generation of search', by Jakub Zavrel, Zeta Alpha
  • ‘Aardwolf: inzicht in digitale sporen die ontstaan bij het gebruik van mobiele telefoons', by Abdul Boztas, NFI & docent Hogeschool Leiden 
  • ‘NL-GPT: De waarde van een Nederlands taalmodel', by Saskia Lensink, TNO 
  • ‘LLaMA’s en GEITjes: successen en uitdagingen voor Nederlandse generatieve taalmodellen', by Edwin Rijgersberg, NFI 
  • ‘Zet 37: hoe AI de aanpak van criminaliteit kan innoveren', by Yolanda van Setten, Cum Sensu
  • 'Ontcijferen van digitale sporen met behulp van taalmodellen', by Hans Henseler, NFI & University of Applied Sciences, Leiden

The event will conclude with an information market and a networking reception.

All speakers have extensive experience in their respective fields, and the event promises to be an informative and educational experience for attendees.
